What is the most exciting thing about working with your project?
The most exciting thing about working with our project is to access documents and texts that are usually quite rare to find/read such as scripts from the authors/artists (with all the small notes and indications that makes a performance even more palpable), transcriptions of performances, unpublished texts, etc.
More generally, we also love to meet people that we admire and gather a temporary community around our journal, melting together different kind of practices inside the publication: some from theatre, others from stand-ups shows/comedy, performers, writers, musicians, etc.
Are you currently developing or working on something new?
We are now working on the second issue of Phylactere, with the support of the Centre d’Art Contemporain Chanot in Clamart within the residency Slow Motion. Towards the end of the residency, on the 25th of June, there will be an evening of performances with Considered to be allies (Mie Frederikke Fisher Christensen and Margaux Parillaud) and Cécile Serres.
Phylactère is born from a deep desire to transcribe performance, with authentic, subjective and spontaneous point of views; giving voice to amateurs, artists, designers and thinkers alike. Phylactère is published once a year. Each issue takes an onomatopoeia as its theme. Phylactère publishes transitional writings and in turn welcomes the discrepancies between a script, the performed action, to its translation; with an extreme and adventurous attention given to contexts, gestures, emotions and spaces put at stake during this transcription. Phylactère is digging into post-performance, allowing those who weren’t present to get a reading of it and experience it from another perspective.
